MOT Testing
Best Autocentres conduct MOT testing for all cars (except three wheelers). We also test vans up to 3500 kg g.v.w (class 7 ). All MoT’s take about 1 hour.
WE NOW ALSO MOT MOTORCYCLES AT OUR TOTTON AND EASTLEIGH CENTRES
All vehicles over 3 years old need to have an annual test to ensure they meet minimum safety standards set out by VOSA. It is important to be aware that an MOT certificate relates only to the condition of testable items at the time of the test and should not be taken as evidence of the general mechanical condition of the vehicle.
Emmissions testing is now carried out as part of the MOT test to ensure that vehicles are not producing harmful gasses in excess of strict government guidelines. All test results are now entered on the DVLA central computer meaning that prospective vehicle purchasers can obtain MOT history, and owners can obtain road tax, on line at the DVLA website.
New failure items that started in January 2012 include all passenger doors must open from outside, drivers seat must adjust and lock, all CV boots must be intact, ball joint covers must be intact, steering lock stops must work and power steering fluid level.
From April 2012 the test will include new failure items i.e dashboard Malfunction Indicator Lamps (MIL), towbar trailer sockets, wiring condition, and battery security.
After your first test with Best Autocentres we will send you a reminder in the month previous to its next due date. Tests can be undertaken up to one calendar month before the due date and still be dated 12 months from the original due date.
Best Autocentres will discount the test if taken at the same time as a full service. Book a test
